Opportunities and Risks of Artificial Intelligence in Teacher Education – Thematic Focus of the Final Conference of the Project “Teaching Internationally”

From September 16 to 19, assistant professors representing the Faculty of Education Science and Psychology of the University of Latvia Evija Latkovska and Anna Stavicka, visited the University of Greifswald (Universität Greifswald) in Germany, participating in the final conference of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) project "Teaching Internationally." The conference, titled “AI and Internationalisation in Teacher Education”, marked the end of the project.

During the visit, project partners from the participating countries – University of Greifswald, Germany; University of Malta; Bishop Grosseteste University, UK; and Hanoi University, Vietnam – analyzed the work accomplished and discussed potential directions for further collaboration for the project proposal, aimed at the funding period from 2025 to 2030.

Over four intensive conference days, workshops focused on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the education process of future teachers. The discussions centered on AI applications in the professional work of both lecturers and students, with an emphasis on lesson planning, developing study assignments, and assessing learning outcomes. Challenges related to the acquisition and assessment of academic writing skills for future teachers were also addressed.
